Griffin Foundation Trust was pleased to award £2,000 to spend on reading books.
Our local school in Thurrock, Chadwell St Mary Primary School recently underwent some major building works to develop their new school library. The teachers and students were all very excited about their new library and decided to apply for a grant to help them buy new books to make the most of their new facility.
Literacy forms such a huge part of Chadwell St Mary, so providing students with a wide variety of books to read is really important. Having a good range was key for them to make sure every student could find a book that interested them. Having a variety of fiction and non-fiction books on hand also helps children develop their reading skills, while also benefitting them in their other subjects.
When we received this application, we were delighted to have the opportunity to assist a great school that is at the heart of our community. The Griffin Foundation Trust was pleased to award £2,000 to the school to spend on reading books to kit out their brand-new library.
The chairman and trustees were so grateful to receive funding for this project, knowing that they would be able to give every current student, as well as future students, hours of new reading material.
The grant was stretched far and has supported the excellent education that the children at Chadwell St Mary Primary School were already receiving. We at the Griffin Foundation Trust appreciate projects like this, as we know they will have a lasting impact on the school.
